Other Volunteers
Apart from the volunteers that we get intentionally coming here for the purpose of spending their time here at the Esther Honey Foundation, we also get the occasional tourist or local who want to lend a helping hand. Help from these infrequent volunteers is greatly appreciated as it can be quite daunting some mornings doing the feeding and cleaning on a regular basis. It’s also a great chance for these tourists and locals to see what we do every day.
We have already had a number of students from the local schools who have come in regularly to help in the mornings and the afternoons, some staying the whole day. Many of these have been featured on our website donning an Esther Honey scrub top as well as one of our many animals. We had a group of kids who were a mix of locals and family of those locals who came to help on Christmas Eve and Christmas day so that we could enjoy a more relaxed day. It was very thoughtful of them, and I think they enjoyed playing with and naming all the kittens.
On other occasions we get people who are just coming through on holiday asking if they can come in for a few mornings to help out from all ages. Whole families have also come and helped for a few days. We have had tourists who have been staying on the island for months and have regularly come in the mornings to help walk the dogs and get things done. It’s amazing the help that we get and we really appreciate everything!
We really hope that all the volunteers enjoy their time here, whether they have come specifically for the purpose of working here, or just to help out for a few days.
